Among other improvements the Agilefant 2.0 alpha 5 includes:

  • improved story tree with filtering options,
  • possibility to add labels to stories and
  • multiple user interface improvement.

Get the latest 2.0 alpha release from here.

Note: If you have updated the database of your Agilefant 1.6 series installation to previous 2.0 alpha releases run the 200_Alpha4-Alpha5_from160.sql database update script. If you have a clean install of the 2.0 alpha 4 run 200_Alpha4-Alpha5.sql script.

We have been more than delighted to observe the growing interest upon Agilefant 2.0. Many of you have asked when it will be released and is it currently stable enough to be used in a production environment. Unfortunately we haven't had a real answer to those questions, but we do now.

The final 2.0 version will be released before summer 2010, but before that we will release one more alpha-version (the alpha 5) and at least one beta-version. Alpha 5 is coming out in mid-February and beta is due in late-March.

As for the stability of the currently in alpha stage Agilefant 2.0, we haven't had major show stoppers with the alpha versions, but they are to be used at one's own risk. However, the upcoming beta release is something we recommend to be used in productions environments and there will be more information available upon the release of the Agilefant 2.0 beta.

Dear Fant-users,

We've received some questions about the prioritization of the so-called Daily Work backlog (see attachment). It is only a small subset of our entire backlog specific to a Master's thesis work that is ongoing, not the whole thing we are (possibly ) working on.

See the forum for our current backlog.

Lo and behold!

For we are now test driving a version of 2.0 with three crucial improvements_ you can now re-structure story hierachies in a tree view, prioritize the stories on the project level, and rank the ongoing projects in the dev portfolio view.

Stay tuned for Alpha 4 in January, but if you - like us - feel like a child at Christmas, grab your snapshot from the builds directory.

Best wishes,

Team Agilefant
